The 2020 HARBUS MBA ESSAY GUIDE is Harvard Business School’s Unofficial Compilation of 22 current essays written by students admitted to the HBS class of 2020 and 2021. These students have been generous enough to share their essays in the hope that others benefit from it.

Many of the authors of the essays in The Harbus guide say they spent months brainstorming ideas and writing multiple drafts that had the benefit of numerous critiques from other readers.

For each essay, The Harbus editors have chosen to anonymize identities, cities, countries and institutions to protect the identity of the authors. Our earlier examples of HBS essays, if anything, show that you don’t have to write the kind of narrative that might find its way into The New Yorker or The New York Times.
